Dance before the Lord is an outward expression of an inner
relationship. The Bible teaches that dance is a valid expression of
praise before God. Psalm 149:3 says, "Let them praise His name
with dancing", and in Psalm 150:4 we find the command to praise Him
with the timbrel and dancing. Jesus has shown us that when heaven is
revealed on earth the proper response is to rejoice with dancing.
Luke 10:21 says, "He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit."
The Greek word for rejoiced is "agalliao" which means "to
leap for joy or very much leaping". Dancing is movement
accompanied by strong emotion and that is exactly what Jesus did, so we
can call Him our dancing Lord!
The Lord instructed Moses in Ex. 29:2 to make holy
garments for Aaron the priest. He says that these garments are for glory
and for beauty. Today, we minister as priests before God (Pet.
2:5,9) dancing into His anointing. We want to make sure our garments
are of the highest standard and quality since we dance for the King!
Holy garments are modest garments. Aaron and his sons were commanded
to wear breeches (Ex. 28:42-43) under their garments whenever they
approached the altar of God to minister. The same holds true today,
that no flesh shall glory in His presence. The flesh and the glory
are not partners in the dance! The modern day version of Aaron's
breeches is the culottes (for girls and women). Holiness, beauty,
and glory rushes in to anoint the dancer who would hold God's Biblical
standard of modesty.
Glory Garments offers a style of dance costumes for
children and adults that have been used successfully in dances, dramas,
and the feasts of the Lord. |
